Two Good Books

Text

I’d like to recommend a couple of books, both hot off the presses. Jonathan Klick and Sally Satel have just published The Health Disparities Myth: Diagnosing the Treatment Gap (American Enterprise Institute Press), which debunks the widespread notion that our health–care system is rife with racial discrimination. Its publication couldn’t be timelier, since one federal bill after another–to say nothing of medical school admissions and curriculum-is based on this false premise. The other book is Warriors for the West: Fighting Bureaucrats, Radical Groups, and Liberal Judges on America’s Frontier by William Perry Pendley (Regnery Publishing). Pendley has been a hero for years among conservative public-interest litigators, and this book recounts much of that struggle.
