Re: Celeb PC Crackups

Derb, the Gibson and Richards outbursts are bringing to the public what Hollywood insiders have known for years: a lot of celebrities are out of their friggin’ minds.  Power, fame and total insulation from regular society lead some — a tiny, tiny minority, but some — stars to believe that they can say or do anything without consequence.  There are volumes of stories about TV and movie stars (none of whom I have ever personally worked with, just to be clear) engaging in wildly inappropriate behavior, both drunk and sober, racist and sexist, homophobic, abusive, you name it.  And until the advent of the new, aggressive netarazzi like Drudge and TMZ, you would never have heard about it.  With videocamera phones at the ready in almost every pocket, you certainly will be hearing more.
