Defeating Iran

Military historian Arthur Herman has a fascinating essay at Commentary, proposing military action against Iran which focuses not on the nuclear threat but the conventional threat Iran poses by seeking to control the Straits of Hormuz and gain a choke-hold on most of the global economy’s oil traffic.  The proposal does not involve a ground invasion (he argues it could be accomplished by air and naval assets), and would, he contends, stand a good chance of toppling the jihadist regime.  It’s worth a read — and I wonder what our NR military experts will think of it.
