Jonah:  The more I read about the human sciences, the more I marvel at the variety, complexity, and occasional weirdness of human nature–the hardwired stuff, I mean.  What a piece of work is a man!  But I’ve only scratched the surface; and anyway, you can’t keep up with this stuff, new discoveries are turning up so fast.

I recall you saying once in conversation, not long after becoming a parent for the first time, that you found it incredible that anyone ever believed in the “blank slate” theory of human nature.  Me too.
