Conservatives and “the Clinton Machine”

Jonathan Chait thinks it’s “odd” that a lot of conservatives think that Hillary Clinton has a lock on the Democratic nomination, and that this belief says something about their distorted perception of the Clintons. I have heard plenty of conservatives say that she is unstoppable in a general election, and plenty of conservatives say that she will be easy to beat. I don’t think either proposition is true, but their currency suggests that conservatives are not of one mind about her political skills. Me, I think it’s odd that so many Democrats consider her a weak general-election candidate, and that their perception says something about their self-doubts. There are more than 5 billion people on this planet, and none of them is more likely to be our next president than Hillary Clinton.
