Lincoln Alert

Text

Below, from a reader.  Andy Ferguson, call your office.

I can’t agree with you on Lincoln’s greatness. I detest the man and feel that his actions while in office amounted to poisoning the well of this great Republic, making him, in my opinion the worst president in our history.

While I think slavery was an abomination, preventing the South from severing their connection to the Union set us on a course that I believe is leading to our ruin. This opinion usually results in the holder being labeled a racist, but I believe there were more ethical, moral, and logical ways of abolishing slavery that would have allowed us to uphold the foundation of our country rather than weakening it to the point of eventual failure.

So, I guess it is true: there is no one subject upon which everyone can agree. :-)
