Re: Warner’s Heir

As Kate O’Beirne notes, Tom Davis would certainly not be a trade up for Virginia conservatives. But former governor (and former 2008 presidential candidate) Jim Gilmore is also said to be considering a run if Warner gives up the Senate seat. Gilmore is far from perfect on a whole range of issues, but would certainly be better than Davis, and very likely also a step up from Warner. Davis looks to be Warner’s choice to succeed him, but Gilmore may well prove to be more popular with other Virginia Republicans. Here’s hoping.
