According to a Harris poll in December 2003, “Howard Dean has established a strong national lead over all other candidates. . . “  He was well-ahead nationwide as the preferred candidate of 21 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning Independents.  Joe Liberman was second with 10 percent and John Kerry was at 4 percent, with John Edwards at 3 percent.  Then came Iowa. . .
