Nerves of Steele

Text

Fresh from his NR cover story on Clarence Thomas, Shelby Steele has a new book out on Barack Obama–about how he’s become a phemon and why he can’t win. It was originally scheduled for publication next month, but The Free Press moved up the pub date to this week. The book covers Obama, but it’s really about American culture, and it’s fascinating. Listen to my 10-minute audio interview with Steele on NRO’s Between the Covers, and also check out recent interviews with Francis Fukuyama on planning for disasters, Christopher Coyne on postwar reconstruction, and Christopher Hull on the Iowa caucuses.
