Huck Would One-Up McCain-Feingold

Text

NPR’s “Morning Edition” interviewed Mike Huckabee about the push polling against other candidates launched by Common Sense Issues, an independent group supporting Huck’s campaign (and this website).  Not only did Huckabee disavow the push polls made on his behalf, he called for outlawing such campaign tactics, and a whole lot more.  Said Huck:

I personally wish that all of this was outlawed. I think that every candidates should speak for themselves, and that every thing that involves the candidate’s name or another candidate’s name should be authorized and approved by that candidate, otherwise it shouldn’t be spoken

The point is that candidates can’t force these special interest 527 groups to stop. I wish we could.

Many conservatives find the campaign speech limits authorized by McCain-Feingold objectionable, but Huck is proposing outlawing a whole lot more.
