Running Against McCain


Here’s the clip in which John Edwards predicts a McCain nomination and subsequently declares himself “tough enough and strong enough” to compete against McCain in “every place in America.” He assures us it’s his toughness and strength, not his whiteness and maleness, that would make him so competitive outside “the big urban areas,” and then adds as an aside that it feels strange to be the “white male” candidate.
