Get Serious Guys

While a bevy of terrific judicial nominees like the indomitable Peter Keisler sit on the sidelines (just wait, the overused sports reference is important here) and FISA reform still awaiting final action from Congress after another band-aid extension, Arlen Specter has turned his attention to more important matters: The NFL’s investigation of Bill Belichick’s cheating.  An 18 1/2 minute gap in the Nixon tapes has nothing on the league’s WHOLESALE DESTRUCTION of Belichick’s tapes.  “I am very concerned about the underlying facts on the taping, the reasons for the judgment on the limited penalties and, most of all, on the inexplicable destruction of the tapes,” said Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., in a Thursday letter to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.  Your taxpayer dollars at work folks.  It’s hard to make this kind of thing up.  Congress needs to establish a PSSI — Permanent Subcommittee on Sports Investigations.  Only then will the Republic be more secure.
