With all respect to Krauthammer, who is a brilliant man, Palin is saving the McCain candidacy right now. He needs to understand that McCain cannot be commander-in-chief if he doesn’t win this race. And, at a minimum, he needed to unite and invigorate the base. I, among many others, am more supportive of Palin than McCain, but will obviously strongly endorse the ticket now. All one need do is compare the reactions to the Republican Convention on Wednesday and Thursday nights to see the difference. And without repeating all the arguments about experience, I would have much more faith in Palin as president than Obama. It is possible Palin will screw up somehow in the next 60 days, or one of the other three may for that matter. But it makes no sense to keep hedging bets at this point. Yes, criticize positions, fight on issues, give strategic advice, etc., but for Krauthammer to continue to second-guess the Palin choice with 60 days to go seems pointless to me. We got it the first time.
