A Catholic Joe from Scranton

Given the Obama campaign’s effort to obscure its radical pro-abortion extremism by milking everything possible out of Joe Biden’s Catholic upbringing in Scranton, Pennsylvania, it’s worth noting that another Catholic Joe from Scranton, Bishop Joseph F. Martino of the Diocese of Scranton, is suitably unimpressed.  Bishop Martino has written a forceful letter making clear that Catholic voters have an obligation to work to ensure that the unborn are “protected by law”—and that they must have in mind that a candidate’s “being ‘right’ on taxes, education, health care, immigration, and the economy fails to make up for the error of disregarding the value of a human life.”  And he’s intervened personally to counter those Catholics who have tried to undermine his teaching.
