Andy McCarthy received the Center for Security Policy’s “Mightier Pen” award in New York City Thursday “in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the safety of this country and the well-being of its people through his essays about the national security and the law” published in National Review and other publications. The Center’s president, Frank J. Gaffney Jr., in extending the tribute noted that like William F. Buckley Jr. — an earlier recipient of the award — Andy has had an extraordinary influence on the senior-most levels of the government and with the American people through his highly evocative and enormously informative analyses of the most important issues of our time.
It would be hard to confine my admiration for Andy in words. His keyboard is mighty and our nation is better for it — and him. Congratulations, Andy. And thank you.
