Meanwhile, Back on the Hill
The House Republican Steering Committee has begun its deliberations on who gets the coveted committee ranking memberships for the next Congress. Don Young’s position may be in jeopardy, according to two Republican sources on Capitol Hill.
One informs us that in a meeting this afternoon, Boehner told Young that he would not support his bid to remain Ranking Member on the House Natural Resources Committee, and that it was unlikely that the Steering Committee would either. Another tells us that although he did not officially request the Resources post, Rep. Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) is likely to get it because there will be no vacancy for the Rules committee post he was seeking.
