Christmas in Afghanistan

I noticed a message on the Facebook page of an old friend currently serving in Afghanistan. People keep asking him what they can send him for a Christmas care package, and his answer is blankets, coats, and school supplies — not for himself or the other soldiers, but for the Afghans. Guy’s a gazillion miles from home in an awful and dangerous place — 558 American troops have been killed there as of this morning — but he’s working to gather schools supplies and blankets for others. His explanation: “It gets cold here.” God bless.
