The Corner

The one and only.

No Messiah

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that so far this season, LeBron James’ Player Efficiency Rating (“PER”) is the highest since the stats have been kept. If he maintains it for the rest of the season, he will eclipse Michael Jordan’s 91-92 season record.   The most impressive thing about James is his passing. He combines the court awareness of Magic Johnson with the precision of Oscar Robertson.   Heck, why stop there? LeBron has the size of Karl Malone, the strength of Darryl Dawkins, the speed of Alvin Robertson, the leaping ability of David Thompson, the dexterity of Bob Cousy, the endurance of John Havlicek and the athleticism of Dominique Wilkins.   He’s pretty good.   But he can’t heal the planet.
