An excerpt from the last few days’ Iran News Round Ups on the events in Gaza. Of note is ‘reformist’ former president Mohammad Khatami’s vitriol against Arab countries maintaining peace with Israel, and threats to attack U.S. and British embassies.
- Defense Minister Najjar: “The Zionist regime is concerned that Hamas will develop into a formidable power like Hezbollah… Israel’s bitter defeat during the 33-day war against Hezbollah has only left bad memories which the Zionist regime desires to hide by committing new crimes…”
- Anti-Israel demonstrations in Tehran.
- Hojjat al-Eslam Mohtashami-Pour accuses Egypt of being “an accomplice of Israel in the crimes of the Zionists in Gaza.”
- The Student Basij stages demonstrations in front of the U.N. Representation Office in Tehran, threaten to shut the office down in three days if the U.N. does not take action to stop Israeli attacks in Gaza. The Student Basij also says it will no longer tolerate “Zionist products in the Iranian market such as Nestle” and says “American, Israeli and British embassies all over the world will no longer be secure.”
