The Five Leading Marriage Indicators

How do we measure a marriage culture?

The Institute for American Values has come up with a new Marriage Index — the Five Leading Marriage Indicators — and a fascinating report that explains why it is necessary.

My column on the subject is here.

The index consists of one measure of the marriage rate, one measure of  the divorce rate, one measure of marital happiness, and two measures of child-centeredness: the out-of-wedlock birth ratio and the proportion of children raised by their own married parents.
