Today on Uncommon Knowledge, political scientist David Brady and economist Daniel Kessler describe what health care would look like if they could design the system from scratch. First up to bat, economist Dan Kessler:

DANIEL KESSLER:  Milton Friedman was 100% right when he said that the original sin of health care was making employer sponsored health insurance excludable from taxation…One thing that John Cogan [of the Hoover Institution], Glenn Hubbard [of Columbia business school] and I have proposed is extending deductibility to all health care spending, not just employer sponsored insurance.  Another thing you could do is gradually erode the employer sponsored exclusion.
