New Jersey Marriage Update

After the New York Senate rejected a bill redefining marriage, attention turned to New Jersey, where a 7–6 vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee approved a redefinition bill. The bill was slated to be voted on in the full Senate last Thursday, but the sponsors asked for that vote to be postponed. The idea seems to be to get a vote in the Assembly instead, where the prospects for passage might be better than in the Senate. Time is running out, however, since the inauguration of a governor who has promised to veto such a bill is coming up next month.
