Fethullah Gulen Speaks

The Wall Street Journal has an interesting article today noting that Fethullah Gulen, a “reclusive Turkish imam” (and a cult leader, and the closest thing Turkey has to Khomeini-in-exile), has condemned the flotilla.

But the Wall Street Journal fails to consider these two questions:

1. Is there a difference in Gulen’s public rhetoric and his private action? Does Gulen really condemn this sort of behavior? Funny that, given the virulent nonsense coming from his group’s newspapers.

2. Why is it that the Obama administration (like Bush’s) tolerates an Islamist cult leader maintaining a compound staffed and secured by machine-gun-wielding thugs in the mountains of Pennsylvania? Has Afghanistan gotten too crowded?
