Obama and Egypt

Eli Lake reports that 82-year-old Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak appears to have terminal cancer. The Obama administration may not be planning for the day after (nor had the Bush administration), but Egypt expert Jeffrey Azarva has already considered the question here, here, and here. The point: Obama may have punted on democratization and reform in the Arab Middle East so far, but he has a unique opportunity to push but for real, substantive reform — instead of dynastic succession — in the Arab world’s largest country.
