A reader points out that David Frum and Andrew Sullivan made similarly inane criticisms of our Ground Zero mosque editorial. Dog bites man.
Frum: “The rights guaranteed by the Constitution do not belong only to nice people.” (The Bill of Rights is a check on the power of the U.S. government, not a check on the power of citizens who might want to decline to patronize a firm that profits from the Ground Zero mosque.) Sullivan: “I am actually heartsick about this.” (Buck up, little camper: Bristol Palin is back in the news.)
Tell you what: I’ll debate Frum and Sullivan on this subject at any New York City mosque that will host us — a Catholic, a Jew, and a homosexual — for the occasion. Just so long as it’s not at Ground Zero.
