Can O’Donnell Beat Castle?

Christine O’Donnell, a conservative activist, is challenging Rep. Mike Castle, the popular congressman and former governor, in Delaware’s Sept. 14 GOP Senate primary. You may recognize her from television. On her website, she details her media history: She has appeared on Hardball, The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes, Politically Incorrect, and Entertainment Tonight, to name a few. Once, on CNN’s Crossfire, Democratic strategist James Carville called her “one hip woman.”

O’Donnell, who was recently endorsed by the Tea Party Express, stopped by National Review this week to talk about her race:

O’Donnell on the lame-duck threat:

A mid-July Rasmussen poll shows O’Donnell running two points ahead of Chris Coons, the likely Democratic nominee, 41 percent to 39 percent. Sen. Jim DeMint (R., S.C.) is also a fan. “She’s a principled conservative who has been overlooked by the Washington establishment,” his spokesman says. “The senator has not made an endorsement in this race but he’s watching it closely to see if O’Donnell can get within striking distance.”
