The View from the Mosque Protests
A group of bikers drove from Shanksville, Pa. (site of the Flight 93 crash on 9/11) to the Pentagon, and then up to Ground Zero for the rally.
Mary Monahan, whose brother and cousin died on 9/11, called the mosque’s proposed location a “grave site” and said building it would be disrespectful.
Many of the protesters were adamant that they recognized the mosque had a legal right to exist, but questioned the sensitivity of such a move.
Politicians supporting the mosque, including New York mayor Michael Bloomberg, were harshly criticized by speakers at the rally.
