Time Out

In my NRO column last week, I criticized Time magazine for telling Muslims both here in the U.S. and around the world that most Americans are “Islamophobic” — meaning that most Americans harbor an irrational fear of and prejudice toward Muslims, for which Muslims should be sorely aggrieved. Time has no evidence. This is simply pandering and it’s irresponsible.

To add insult to injury, Time has hired Fareed Zakaria who seems to believe Hezbollah is a tolerant organization that has been unfairly demonized. He’s doesn’t appear to have examined the wealth of contrary evidence.

And then there is Joe Klein, who willfully distorted a Time poll so as to better denounce me as a “hater.”

But wait! There’s more! If you order now, you can get a copy of the new issue of Time featuring a story titled, “Why Israel Doesn’t Care About Peace.”

Can you guess why that is? Well, among other things, Israeli Jews are “making money” and “enjoying such satisfactions as might be available from the private sphere.”

I wish I were confident that these odious trends have gone as far as they can go. But I’m not.
