I work from an office in my home, which is distraction enough, and now this - a comment section at The Corner. Please note that not having anything to say did not prevent me from posting. This is a problem common to all comment sections, as we shall soon see.
Well, I am sure that it is a bit overwhelming right now. No more "fire and forget", then maybe checking email (if one even makes their email public!). Now, each author is going to feel responsible the policing of his/her comments and providing additional commentary as required. Totally unrealistic, but that is going to be the model, as most other post-and-reply forums (freep, for instance), usually has a unenforced requirement that the author backup the post, if challenged.
It shall be interesting to see how long this feature lasts, or, if it does, in what form.
This is an unfortunate development. Whereas we were spared the inane comments of your liberal enemies, whose emails were carefully selected for wider viewing, now we must endure same. Hopefully, the commenters will be of the same intellectual caliber one find's on VDH's blog.
Either The Corner has the most reserved group of readers in the history of blogs or no one is around today - readers or contributors.
I suspect you'll be wishing for days like this one at NRO once you've had your first flame war or 4 conducted on here. :-) (or are the more abrasive posts being edited out?)
I clicked on the NRO comment policy link below, and was directed to this Corner post: Ninth Circuit Sanity on Felon Disenfranchisement. Is this a hint? :-)
Nice add! I just wish you displayed the comments in chronological order, instead of the reverse like it is now. Makes it easier to follow threads from the beginning.
...good move, n.r.o...away from elitism, toward the necessary cacophony of the unwashed mass....'course that'll increase the blather 'n trolls...but an improve....agree, re; change b/wards chronology of comments, thus more cogent following of thread....onward/upward, to victory in nov. 'n beyond...
My firm's office in Tokyo was closed today for "Sports Day" and our Toronto office was closed for Thanksgiving. Tomorrow our Sao Paulo office is closed for "Our Lady's Day." All the U.S. offices were open, despite what Chris Columbus did for us.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI was afraid of that..
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseCan't blame them, tho; it's only a matter of time before the lurkers, trolls and Paulians show up!
You've opened Pandora's Box. I hope you guys have someone available to keep the spam off this site.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseFirst Comment in NR. Now I am famous. The essence of conservative government is to recognize that man is fallen.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseComments! We don't need no stinking comments!
Unless they combine a love of Star Wars and cats.

Don't worry. Maybe the moderators can try what Barack did last week when there is some comment they do not like: Turn off the microphone.
I do appreciate the chance to participate in the community and learn from each other. Thanks NR for making it happen.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIs commenting limited to subscribers? That would be one way to cut down on trolls (and to encourage subscribing).
