Free Trip to D.C.

Apparently Arianna Huffington — resolute guardian of her website’s fiscal rectitude and limited resources — has made a mess for herself by promising free bus rides to anyone who wants to attend Jon Stewart’s rally in D.C. Never mind the fiction that the Stewart rally is billed as a non-ideological attempt to restore sanity, and having Arianna Huffington as a backer is like having Helen Thomas back a non-partisan conference on Zionism. I think conservatives who’d just like a lovely trip to the nation’s capital should take her up on the offer as well. Spend as much — or as little — time as you like at the rally. Huffington says she’ll supply as many buses as it takes.

I don't recall Glenn Beck paying to have people bussed in to swell his numbers. Everyone who went got themselves to the rally on their own dime. Once again we see the fundamental differences between how the left and the right operate. I don't think liberals can conceive of an event like this drawing crowds without a significant investment in AstroTurf tactics. That would help explain why they constantly accuse those on the right of doing the same thing without any evidence of that being the case. To them, this is simply how it is done.

How is this not astroturfing?

Well considering that registration for being bussed by the Huffington Post ended October 8th (External Link ) this was a fun post, pointless, but fun.

@ADyer:

You might want to check facts rather than your memory because a lot of folks were bussed in for Beck's rally:

Adyer, click on this link and tell me again what the fundamental differences between right and left are?

Can you imagine the smell on that trip? I'd venture something like a bus load of french hippies after visiting a New Mexico sweat lodge.

How is taking a bus to an event "astroturfing"? Do you need to own a car to be a legitimate political actor?

Once again we see the fundamental differences between how the left and the right operate: the right declines to recall inconvenient facts, while the left knows how to google.

You who are providing links to the Beck rally and the bus rides are missing a key point here. Those who attended the Beck rally on buses had to PAY THEIR WAY on those buses.

Huffington is offering FREE bus rides. The unions also paid the way for those who attended the last rally the libs had.

I would have gone, but we couldn't afford the $280 a person it was going to cost us to get there from Texas. I would have gone had those bus rides and hotel rooms been free-but they were not. The free bus rides is the story here-not whether there are people being bused in.
