Cutting NPR Funding

by Kathryn Jean Lopez

A little more on the House Republicans’ plans: Eric Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring tells NRO that “we are going to conduct a full audit to trace avenues that federal dollars go to NPR. At a minimum we would include preventing the flow of taxpayer dollars to NPR through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.”

His “at minimum” hints at the vast array of ways NPR is nourished by federal taxpayers. They get money from the Department of Education and the Department of Commerce and the National Endowment of the Arts, for example, as anyone can see by peeking into their annual reports.
