Several times over the last month I’ve heard people say that every time the House has flipped since 1930, the Senate has flipped too. It now looks as though they’re going to have to make that “every time between 1930 and 2010.” As I mentioned earlier, at the beginning of this cycle, people said that the Democrats could gain Senate seats because the map favored them. The map does favor them: If more midwestern Senate seats were up this time, a Republican takeover of the Senate would be a done deal.
