For Obama to change would mean Obama to fail. Round and round we go but in the end we elected a radical president and are just now finding out what's in him.
Or maybe I should revise that cliche as well: Elect a Republican House of Representatives* and find out what's in it. Don't get your hopes up there, either.
This is needlessly cute and there is absolutely no reason to diss Limbaugh. American pays a price when Obamacare is enacted; it does not pay a price when it fails to be enacted (other than the time/effort/opportunity costs).
Why do we personalize this to Obama -- the failure criterion is at the level of USA. Limbaugh wanted Obama to fail in Obama's goals -- which he did. Wouldn't it be better for McConnell to say (with some better wordsmithing):
"I don't really care about Obama's personal goals and his success or failure thereof ... what we need to focus on is empowering each and every American to succeed without needless government interference."
I voted for McCain. I voted, therefor, for Obama to fail as a candidate, it follows that I want him to fail as president. That's my right as a citizen.
And failure works! Just look at the second half of Clinton's presidency: the GOP was in full obstructionist mode and eagerly chasing stupid scandals. As a result, we almost wiped out the deficit.
Lines like that of Sen McConnell are why the GOP will seize defeat from the jaws of victory if not checked by the Tea Party Movement folks. They also demonstrate why Senators generally are so poor as Presidents or Presidential candidates!
Obama is an ideologue and his beliefs, "principles" and goals are antithetical to the underpinnings of this country. Yes...he must fail. He's not going to "change"; Were he to change once, doesn't the reasonable person think he'll do so again? And in a way we would not support?
The only change Obama will make is the peaceful change of Government in 2012.
Precisely how I feel.
If the President fails, America pays the cost. Unfortunately, his agenda is one that will have us paying for a long time to come.
I wish the President the best of luck--at least, as long as he is willing to change.
I can always hope.
Yes. I went there.

*Yes, yes, I know, McConnell is Senator.
