Lubbock and Ann Arbor

by Jay Nordlinger

Kevin, you silly West Texans, thinking that elections are actually free and open, and make a difference. In Ann Arbor, they know that the system is rigged, and that Big Money controls the country regardless. Elections are a bourgeois conceit and charade that will be laughed into nonexistence, come the revolution . . .

P.S. No, we don’t have gun raffles, I’m pretty confident in saying. Raffles, maybe.

P.P.S. An Ann Arborite is likelier to have supped at the Raffles Hotel, Singapore’s signature establishment, than to have entered a gun raffle (and this despite the hotel’s colonial inheritance).
