Gallup reports that 18 percent of Hispanic immigrants in the United States want to emigrate to another country, a third of them to Mexico and the rest to other Latin American countries or Canada or Europe. They are more likely than other Hispanic immigrants to be poor and not speak English well — i.e., almost certainly disproportionately illegal aliens, though the survey didn’t ask about legal status. (The survey was conducted last year, so the number might actually be higher now, in the wake of last week’s debacle for the amnesty crowd.)
Fortuitously, there’s a new organization to help them do just that. A group called the Coalition to Protect American Workers is buying plane tickets for illegal immigrants who want to go home. From their site:
Many illegal immigrants desperately want to return home to be with their families, but cannot because they lack resources and fear the government. Yet these illegal immigrants would readily welcome private assistance to repatriate back home. CPAW seeks qualified referrals from faith-based organizations to assist immigrant individuals and families unlawfully present in the United States wishing to return home. CPAW provides direct assistance to people to help cut bureaucracy, save costs, and expedite the process to leave America.
I’m not sure how many people have taken the group up on its offer, but it seems like a good deal — the illegal immigrants leave our country, taxpayers don’t have to foot the bill, and the illegals themselves avoid the ordeal of arrest and deportation. Everybody wins — except La Raza and its ilk and the crooked businesses they’re in league with.
Great idea. This should not rely solely on private organizations - it would be a good use of taxpayer dollars with an immediate and high ROI.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseHow do they get on the plane? They have to show ID to fly. Now, a lot of them have drivers licenses or the consular certificate IDs, but as I understand it, you're strongly opposed to both.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAnything to help keep population in check before we're holding hands from sea to shining sea. I'm for ceasing all immigration, which can also help clear the backlog, allow time to focus on how we want to proceed as a country. How long will it take before terrorists go 'oh hey we can just go to Mexico and cross, probably Canada too'.
One of my caveats was that those here illegally may leave with no consequences, but I also am not interested in allowing illegal aliens currently here to stay.
The people coming from Canada and Europe mainly who move here then complain and say we should change to socialism absoultely disgust me, I say to them go back, leave. It's unfortunate that those coming from Mexico and South America are usually herded like sheeple by people with personal aspirations and leave a bad impression since they probably generally enjoy the freedom and prosperity, since that is why they come.
Disclaimer: I'm not an 'ist' or a 'phobe' of any kind
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseGreat way for suckers to lose some money. Guatemalan immigrants get a free intercontinental flight home to see their abuelita for navidad, then turn right around and come back by the same wide-open channels that got them here in the first place.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe only way I support taxpayer dollars is if they can guarantee anyone sent away, stays away and doesn't return.
How many are here for seasonal work? Do we really want to start providing them with a government paid free trip home every year?
