Liberals’ Favorite Conservatives

by Mark Krikorian

We’ve all seen how conservatives hated by the Left are suddenly looked back on fondly after they die — Goldwater, Reagan, and Buckley being the most notable — especially as a way to indict conservatives who are still alive. Well, Dana Milbank has jumped the gun on Bush — the man hasn’t even been out of office for two full years and yet Milbank is “Nostalgic for George W. Bush.” Now, maybe that’s because Bush wasn’t really all that conservative in the first place, and the issue Milbank focuses on — TARP — confirms that. But it’s still jarring, considering what a hate figure W still is for the Left.
