DeMint, Half a Loaf, etc.

by Andrew Stuttaford
Daniel, I wish I could say that I was surprised by the position that Senator DeMint has taken, but I am not. The commenter who talked about this being an example of letting the perfect being the enemy of the good is spot on. And it’s not the first time that we have heard this sort of talk from this particular senator. What a shame. And what a shame if this stance contributes to the climate of uncertainty that has already done so much to hurt the private sector, but then I suppose such things matter rather less when viewed from within the Beltway. Pass the thing now, and then revert to the topic next year when the congressional math is better.
