According to reports, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been released on $310,000 bail by a British judge. Assange had spent a week in jail on sex charges originating in Sweden.
As part of the bail arrangement, Assange will be under a curfew, and wear an electronic tracking device. He will also be required to “spend every night” at Ellingham Hall, “a Georgian mansion” in eastern England.
American filmmaker Michael Moore had offered to post Assange’s bond in a statement he submitted to the court. In it, Moore called Assange “a pioneer of free speech, transparent government and the digital revolution in journalism.”
