Indiana state senator Mike Delph, a Republican who may challenge Sen. Lugar in next year’s primary, responds to the START vote:
“No major treaty has ever been ratified by a lame duck session of the Senate until today. It is unprecedented procedurally. And while my compliments go to President Obama and Senator Lugar who I know worked hard for the passage of this treaty, I remain concerned that START II could hamper American ability to pursue, construct, and implement a comprehensive missile defense system. It is my hope that the outcome of the November election will be remembered over the holiday break and will remind our leadership of the people’s will.”
UPDATE: Delph also encourages readers to see a statement he posted on his website last month.
