The Corner

The one and only.

Tere Tulemast Titanicule!

The long-standing currency peg between the Estonian Kroon and (first) the Deutschmark and (then) the Euro means that Estonia’s adoption of the Euro—which comes into effect today—is, as a day-to-day matter, less dramatic a step than would otherwise be the case. Nevertheless it’s difficult not to feel both sadness at the death of the Kroon, one of the great symbols of independence regained, and renewed apprehension for the country’s future.

A good selection of less than celebratory posters can be found here (scroll down to the left).
