No, Rich is not "excusing the rhetoric of Sarah Palin" he is pointing out the absurdity of equating the use of a "bullseye" or "crosshairs" image to calling for violence against an individual or individuals. The New York Post, I am willing to bet, was not calling for the assassination of Peyton Manning, just as Sarah Palin wasn't calling for the assassination of any of the representatives "targeted" in her add, or as Markos of Daily Kos wasn't calling for the assassinations (at least, I don't think he was) of those on his "target" list from last week.
LOL, just shows how far off the rails the Left has gone in seeking to shamelessly capitalize on this latest episode. I don't seem to remember any on that side of the aisle getting all worked up about the potential for "incitement" when "Death of a President" was fantasizing about President Bush's assassination. Liberal hypocrisy and absurdity knows no bounds...
Oh goodness, but if Peyton Manning actually had been shot this week by a Jets fan, you don't think that people would be questioning whether the cover had been in bad taste, at a minimum, and possibly played a role?
As I just mentioned to Jason on another thread, he can feel free to believe that Sarah Palin should regret her choice to use political imagery that many others used before her because, coincidentally, someone was shot who was featured in that graphic.
But Jason and the others who are repeating that pablum should realize that no rational thinking being is obligated to dive off that cliff after them.
@Anonymous
If Manning were shot by a deranged HOCKEY fan 10 full months from now, do you still believe that the "rhetoric" present in this cover of the Post would be considered in any way relevant?
If you are excusing the rhetoric of Sarah Palin by saying "The New York Post did it too!" then I think you might have a problem.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseWow. Sarah Palin gets around, doesn't she?
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThis is funny. Who needs to excuse Palin for anything. We all put targets on things, she just drew the picture. Grow up and stop the blame game.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIt's hilarious that the left is so emotionally invested in this that they keep doubling down on stupid. I'm not even annoyed anymore, it's a sickness.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI agree Abe.
