Former congressman Rob Simmons hasn’t ruled out a senatorial bid in 2012 — and neither has former gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley. The former ambassador to Ireland, who just barely lost the Connecticut governorship to Dannel Malloy in November, tells NRO he hasn’t “made any decision one way or the other” regarding the rumored soon-to-be open seat.
Noting that “a number of people” have asked him about his plans, Foley says, “We need to figure out who’s interested and who’s planning to run and I hope the Republican party gets behind a single candidate so we have as good of a shot at winning that seat.”
He should hope that the Party gets behind a single candidate after a vigorous primary over issues. Hope he doesn't think it should just be handed to him . . .
