The Ryan Backlash Begins…

Democrats are already freaking out about the selection of Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) — author of the entitlement-reforming “Roadmap For America’s Future” — to deliver the Republican response to President Obama’s State of the Union address next week.

Here’s Jesse Ferguson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee:

Picking Representative Paul Ryan to give the State of the Union rebuttal is a clear sign that House Republicans will move full speed ahead with plans that would have a devastating impact on seniors who are already struggling to get by. As if it wasn’t already clear, House Republicans are now doubling down on their disastrous plans to gamble Social Security funds on Wall Street and dismantle Medicare.

During the midterms, the DCCC under Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D., Md.) — now Ryan’s top opponent on the House Budget Committee — made a mission of accusing (falsely) any Republican who supported the “Roadmap,” however slightly, of wanting to do away with Social Security as we know it. We know how well that strategy worked out for them then. What was that about “doubling down?”

Did they compare him to Goebbels yet?

Can there be any doubt who is the party of extreme rhetoric?

What is more likely to cause violence; some "map" on Facebook very few took notice of at the time or Democrats saying over and over and over that Republicans are trying to kill you and starve your grandparents?

The Democrats and the left are truly dispicable!

Obamacare included some $450 billion in Medicare cuts to "fund" the so-called uninsured, and this Bozo accuses Republicans of dismantling Medicare? Ferguson needs to look up the definition of irony...

Well, now...

It would seem that by the reaction to the selection of Mr. Ryan the Republicans have chosen just the right man for the job.

Give em hell, Paul!

At least he hasn't been accused of being an accessory to a murder....yet.

Paul Ryan is a great face for the GOP. He knows the subject and can answer the typical Dem spin with answers so direct and intuitive, even cavemen can get it.

What, did they expect the GOP to cart one of the Maine Ladies out there instead?

This kind of political gamesmanship is oh so 1990s. Jesse's Ferguson's invective is akin to a passenger on the Titanic complaining about the bar service 15 minutes before the ships goes under.

We have a $14 trillion debt, and Social Security itself is a $50 trillion unfunded liability over the next 70 years. Do nothing and allow the status quo to continue is a sure way to guarntee national insolvency. In that case, the eldery will surely be eating Gravy Train for dinner.
