Just need to make sure everyone is on the same page after the speech. Priorities. He doesn't need to practice the speech, he can just wing it.

Sound more like choir practice than lunch.

I am shocked; shocked, I say, to not see any NRO folk at this luncheon! Of course Matthews will be there, tinkling down his leg, so it might not really have been that great of a luncheon to be invited to anyway.

A working lunch with staff. What's the news in that?

Whatever happens...it will be reported as a "historic" speech and SOTU

And the missing network only happens to have the highest ratings in cable news. I'm sure this was merely and accidental oversight.

Shep at FNC talked about how he was there so Fox was definitely there. Also, every President since the first George Bush has had a pre SOTU meeting with the major news networks. Yet another non-story hyped unnecessarily.

You're so easily suckered.

Shep Smith was there and so was Bret Baier.

Same luncheon was held in '09 and again in '10, with Fox Anchors invited and attending on both occasions as well.

Some of you just LOOOOOOVE to play the victim !

( and can you not see how these Right Wing sites play you for the dupes that you are?? )

VoR, thanks for the clarification. I rescind my comments.

Mr. Foster, your credibility took a hit in my book. Was the partial list intentional? Did you not disclose the whole story so as to create a new story? Please explain yourself.

Good catch Voice of Reason. While I like Foster this is just petty. I googled and every story mentioned Fox being represented. I cannot see how he did not know.

I'm a big NRO fan, but I gotta say, this post does seem to be misleading. I clicked on it because "Obama Lunches with Chris Matthews" sounded like something weird was going on. And the story implies something untoward. But apparently it's all non-news. Why are you wasting my time and leading with your chin so critics like VoR have such an easy punch?

Did Obama hand out any "tickle you" pants?

Obama's not an idiot. He wants the Fox folks drooling all over this speech just like the one in Tucson, afterall, that network will have more viewers than some of the others combined.

Regardless of who's governing in the Oval Office, I personally find this to be a major conflict of interest from the journalistic perspective.

Marco,
How is it a conflict of interest?
