That was the Planned Parenthood company line last week, on CNN:
And just yesterday, People for the American Way was describing the Live Action work as “discredited” “Hoax Videos.”
And while at least one clinic worker has been fired, a twentysomething is under attack — by a profit-making billion-dollar organization that receives taxpayer funding — for creating the videos. And while Planned Parenthood insists everything has been done by the book — well save in New Jersey, they do admit – questions have been raised by more than Live Action.
But today we learn that Planned Parenthood will be providing training so that Planned Parenthood workers don’t actually aid and abet sex trafficking.
I wish Planned Parenthood well in doing that. But given the mixed messages, and the history and reality of the organization — a reality that’s becoming ever more clear on these videos — there is reason to be skeptical. Live Action president Lila Rose calls it “window dressing.”
It is surprising to me that any organization needs to "train" its employees that sex-trafficking in underage girls is a problem and that assisting its continuance is illegal.
Do they have to train their people that cannibalism is a problem? How about, oh, identity theft? Are their employees so morally illiterate, so bereft of conscience that they need to be TRAINED to not help a p*mp work 14-year-old girls?
Seems worth asking if they were in full compliance with the language of their grant: compliance with legal and ethical standards, exclusion of federal funds from abortion services. The grant documentation ought to have requirements for standards of care and professionalism, no?
Perhaps there is ground for a third party lawsuit on that basis. With three documented problems, there seems at least some basis for discovery of their internal communications and policy to see just how serious they were about compliance.
"Do they have to train their people that cannibalism is a problem? How about, oh, identity theft? "
Weren't there a bunch of documents dumped by some group(ACORN) in San Diego with personal info that was supposed to be protected for identity theft reasons? Seems training for that MAY be needed.
While I know that the responses recorded are not the correct ones, I'm not quite sure what the appropriate response is. I presume that the guy has not given sufficient personal info that the police could find him at this point, and simply telling him to leave wouldn't help the girls in question. If you add to that a belief that a woman's (and girl's) most prized liberty is to kill her baby in utero, I acutally think the most likely response would be to somehow get face-to-face with these girls.
Mitch, I believe the correct response would be to say we can't help you, take a mental image of his face, and call the police with his description when it is safe for you to do so.
After all he just admitted to multiple felonies and exploitation of children in the most heinous way.

Or you could say in response to a question, "Let me check on that a moment. I'll be right back." Step out into the hallway and find somebody to find out how he got there and, if possible, get a license plate number and call the police. Then go back into the office, stall a bit, chat with him, lead him on, and hope that the cops are able to get there in a short enough period of time.
Mitch: reputable service providers train their employees in what it means to be a "mandated reporter".
We are apparently supposed to believe that the largest abortion provider services in the nation have never encountered suspected abuse before, and therefore could not know how to react? Meanwhile, I bet your local pediatrician's receptionist probably would have known exactly what to do with a situation like that.
Heh. As a defense contractor, I just finished doing some of this year's mandatory ethics recertification - in the course of which I was informed, for the nth year in a row, that as an employee of a firm that does business with the US government, I was responsible for following *all* US law on the subject of sex trafficking and trafficking in humans - whether on the corporate dime or my own time (Not that I've ever had any doubt on that subject, mind you).
Apparently the same requirements are not laid upon people who just get to take USGov money via methods other than direct contracts? I think not. I rather suspect that as a politically favored entity, they're simply not examined, as opposed to those evil gov't contractors such as myself.
I also think that if my company were to have been accused of what Planned Parenthood has been accused of, we would have been executed, then convicted, tried, and finally charged in the media.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAfter you have convinced yourself that killing babies is a good thing, it is hard to get too worked up about sex trafficking.

Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAlso, not being able to include the word for the guy who "manages" a prostitute in the comments is bizarre.
