The Kid Isn’t Bad

Two Justin Bieber posts in one day on the Corner seems like a transparent ploy to get your teen daughter to read all that is Right daily. But this comes from his Rolling Stone interview

He isn’t sure what political party he’d support if he was old enough to vote. “I’m not sure about the parties,” Bieber says. “But whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad.” He does have a solid opinion on abortion. “I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber says. “It’s like killing a baby?” How about in cases of rape? “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

A friend e-mails: “You wonder, I’m sure, what Justin Bieber thinks about abortion? … Clearer than some GOP presidential hopefuls.”

Outstanding. Let's get Bieber to appoint the next SCOTUS justice. Maybe we can talk him into Ponnuru.

Does his view on abortion outweigh his view on healthcare?, which you omitted. He says something to the effect that America is evil (laughingly) because we have to pay for our healthcare whereas in Canada "we don't have to pay anything".

Why in God's name is Rolling Stone asking a 16-year-old what he thinks about abortion - or anything political? I don't care what fully-grown adult entertainers think about public policy or abortion, why should I give a hoot what Bieber thinks?

Why can't they all just Shut Up And Sing?

Not only would he have to be old enough to vote, he'd also have to meet that pesky qualification requiring voters to be - um - American.

So he doesn't like abortion, but he prefers a healthcare system that will have all of us paying for the procedure? Maybe he should just stick to wooing the world's preteen population and leaving the politics for another day.

I'm totally with reldim - how creepy is it that a supposed music-related magazine is asking a 16 year old kid (who looks more like a 13 year old kid) what he thinks about sex and abortion? There's something naggingly pervy and pedo about it. Who conducted the interview? Gary Glitter?

I heartily agree with the previous posters and would gently suggest "Two Justin Bieber posts too many..." His stance on abortion is surprising, given there are NO laws restricting abortion in Canada.

For example, some years ago a Canadian woman shot herself and succeeded in killing her unborn baby. Not a crime...

Stop!
Can we all agree that, whether good, bad or indifferent, it doesn't matter what some teeny bopper idol thinks about abortion! or what a Miss America contestant thinks about marriage! or what anyone famous for being attractive or notorious thinks about anything!
How about if we ask those questions (and quote the answers) of people famous for being educated, experienced, intelligent and well reasoned?

Regarding a pregnant woman shooting herself to abort the baby, I assume no woman would be prosecuted for that anywhere in the US, either.

K,

You might want to read another paragraph or two and see the remarks he made about healthcare and "Americans". ("You guys are evil...")

The kid *is* bad, or perhaps, the kid is naive, uninformed, outside his area of expertise, thoughtless...he is "a kid", and no one should be asking him these things, publishing his answers, or giving him any more credit for what sounds like a good answer than if he had chosen his position based on a coin toss.

That does it for Bieber. He is now officially blacklisted, banned, banished, indeed aborted, from all that is Hollywood, pop culture, and entertainment. May be the best thing to ever happen to the little fella.

Peter Robinson interviewing this kid on UK instead of Rolling Stone would be 1,000x better

PR: Justin, welcome. Segment one: Baby. I am quoting you, Justin, in the song, Baby. "And I was like baby, baby, baby, oh. Like baby, baby, baby, no. Like baby, baby, baby, oh. I thought you'd always be mine." With those four lines, Justin, are you placing the abortion debate into music?

J: Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

PR: Segment two: Hair products.

Don't get too excited Kathryn. He also said in the same interview:

"You guys are evil. Canada's the best country in the world. We go to the doctor and we don't need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you're broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard's baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby's premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home."

On the other hand, he is SO dreamy...

If Justin Bieber ever wants to run for governor of Massachusetts he'll need to change his position on abortion. At least until he decides he's running for the GOP nomination for president.

Mitch Baker, I sadly suspect you're correct.

"In Canada, if your baby's premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home."

In light of the above comment by Master Bieber, for a better example, perhaps, search "Vancouver General Hospital" + "aborted babies."

Gee KLO, is that all it takes?

A couple of quotes you agree with, and he's good to go?

Now I think I understand the Romney love.

Sheesh...

I'll give him credit for this - he didn't answer the abortion question by saying: that's above my paygrade."

linearheights beat me to posting what I was thinking about when I saw the cherry-picked quote K.Lo put up. Is that all it takes for the militantly pro-life people to be satisfied?

If he said, "I believe in the teachings of Marx, Mao, and Che; 9/11 was an inside job; health care, food, shelter and a living wage are fundamental human rights; the Muslim Brotherhood are mostly secular; and I'm not too crazy about abortion since it kills a baby," would K.Lo still swoon? Sadly, probably.

@DirkBelig

Abortion was legalized in the Soviet Union under Lenin and then made illegal and very strictly punished under Stalin but where's Lopze's post about the sagacity of the Great Helmsman?
