The Official Theme Song of Indiana Democratic Legislators

I have literally been waiting more than a decade to find a good excuse to play this song in the Corner (I’ve used bad excuses for several times in the past).

Now someone needs to get to work rewriting the lyrics.

New on The Corner. . .

The bus of heartbreak and full of portly democrats flees northward towards Illinois. When will this crazed republican hate be stopped.

Now I have that song running through my head. Ugh.

Shades of Run, Joey, Run (which I just found out Glee ruined, if that was possible).

I'll see what I can do about the lyrics...might not be easy, though. :)

Things can go wrong... things, um, ...happen, capisci?

Never post that tune again...

Recovering fugitive public servants could be a lucrative new gig for repo men.

Sorry, FJ, please go look at a map.

When I go north from my state, I end up in Michigan: either the state or the great lake...Illinois is to the west of Indiana. (More appropriately: on a map, Illinois is "left" of Indiana.)

At the end of the song, R. Dean Taylor is singing the lines:

Indiana wants me, can't go back there,
Indiana wants me, can't go back there.

Over his refrain you can hear someone on a loudspeaker saying, "This is the Indiana State Police, come out with your hands up."

I would suggest there be a group of persons shouting into the loudspeaker saying:

"These are the taxpayers of Indiana, come back to work and cut spending."

Gosh, I've yet to see anyone post the Holy Grail's ballad about Brave Sir Robin. After all, when government bankruptcy reared its nasty head, the Democrats tucked their tails and fled. Brave Democrats!

I think that Monty Python's "Brave Sir Robert" is more appropriate, and doesn't need to be limited to one state!

Brave, brave Sir Robin, he bravely ran away
When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tale and fled

Please don't make us listen to that again...

{police sirens}
Mmm mm-mmmm-mm
Mmm mm-mmmm-mm

Indiana wants me

Lord, I can't go back there
There’s no quor’m without me
Lord, I can't go back there
I wish I had you to talk to

If a cause ever needed dyin', that one did
No man had the right to the pay that they did – not me or you
And it's so cold and lonely here in Rockford
And the rule of law's a-comin'
I'm scared and so tired of runnin'

Indiana wants me
Lord, I can't go back there
There’s no quor’m without me
Lord, I can't go back there
I wish I had you to talk to

It hurts to see the man that I've become
And to know that the sun’ll shine only on a right to work hoosier-land
I'll never see inflated salaries or benefits
If just once more I could see
Our little sinecures -- oh so cushy

Indiana wants me
Lord, I can't go back there
Indiana wants me
Lord, I can't go back there

{police sirens}

I wish I had you to talk to

I hope this letter finds its way to you
Forgive me, unions, for the shame I put you through and all the tears

Hang on, unions, to the windfalls of those happy years
Red lights are flashin' around me
Yeah, Love, it looks like they found me

Indiana wants me
Lord, I can't go back there

Indiana wants me
Lord, I can't go back there
I wish I had you to talk to

Indiana wants me (this is the police, you are surrounded)
Lord, I can't go back there (give yourself up)
Indiana wants me (this is the police, give yourself up)
Lord, I can't go back there (you are surrounded)

{shoot-out sound effects}

Now I have both "Indiana Wants Me" and "Run Joey Run" playing in my head. Now I truly know what hell is like!
