Ireland’s Election

Text

Fianna Fáil, the party that has ruled Ireland for 61 of the last 79 years, and that has actually won more votes than any other party in every Irish election since 1932, has suffered a historic wipeout in the general election this past weekend, losing three-quarters of its parliamentary seats. Ruth Dudley Edwards explains the result here.

The bad news is that psychopathic mass murderer Gerry Adams — this time without the support of his good friend and armorer Muammar Gaddafy, who has been otherwise engaged — was elected to parliament from the county of Louth. This result is the more disgraceful in that one of Adams’s victims, Jean McConville, was buried by Gerry’s lads, after they had tortured and murdered her, in a makeshift grave in the very constituency that just elected him. Mrs McConville was a widow. Her murder left her ten children without a parent.

The indispensable Ruth Dudley Edwards is on this case too. She reports that there are moves under way to get Adams hauled up before the War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague. I hope this campaign succeeds.
