Liberal Groups Explore Recalling Wis. GOP Senators

Text

Two liberal groups have started robo-calling residents in five Wisconsin senate districts, to see if there’s interest in recalling the Republican senators who represent those districts.

One of the Republicans targeted, Sen. Dale Schultz, has not publicly stated his position on Gov. Scott Walker’s plan to ban most collective bargaining powers. Schultz proposed earlier this month that the ban only be in effect for the next two years, and then be re-instated.

The robo-calls are being funded by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America.

Only three of the five senators would be able to be recalled immediately, should the groups decide to pursue the matter. A year would have to pass before Schultz and Senate president Michael Ellis were permitted to be recalled.
