Wisconsin senate minority leader Mark Miller sent a letter today to Gov. Scott Walker’s office, requesting a meeting “near the Wisconsin-Illinois border to formally resume serious discussions,” according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Miller says the Democrats, who have now been outside the state for 18 days, are ready to discuss a “reasonable compromise” on the collective bargaining legislation.
It would be an absolute travesty to cede anything to those cowards that fled the state. Anything.
Their little tactic needs to fail and fail in an epic way.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseNo compromise! Stand up like men and come back to the state house. Otherwise, forget it!
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThese Demo clowns behaved like two year olds. You don't reward such behavior with ice cream! Nothing, nada, zippo should be ceded to these bums.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseThe place to talk about legislation is in the state house. Not in some bungalow at the border. Unbelievable.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseIn Democrat speak, "reasonable compromise" actually means, "give us everything we want, and we will stop acting like children".
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseDOesn't sound like any change from the status quo to me.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI would not move one inch in their direction. Gutless cowards, the whole lot of them.
Reply to this commentLinkReport Abuseas long as "reasonable compromise" = "unconditional democrat surrender" i have no problem with this development.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbusePATea beat me to it. If the Democrats want to talk compromise, they can do it at the place that the people of Wisconsin built specifically so that politicians could talk about compromise. This whole "meeting at the border" sounds like a felon figuring out how to surrender to the cops. Which may not be a totally inaccurate description of the situation, but not one that makes the Dems seem like people the governor should be treating like respected colleagues.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAnyone else visualizing Walker standing on the north side of the state line road near Beloit and the Democrats standing on the south side, shouting back and forth?
No way Walker should leave Madison to talk with these bozos.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseI think 14 spouses might have had something to do with this. Agreed that Walker shouldn't move an inch away from his desk.
Reply to this commentLinkReport AbuseAny compromise will legitimize this tactic and must be avoided at all costs.
